Three Tips for Increasing Productivity

Being productive can feel like an energy high that puts you in the best of states. It’s something so many of us pursue because regardless of what we are productive at, just the simple fact we believe we are taking steps forward is a feeling of jubilation. Before any one of us can even begin to get productive, we have to start it all with the right mindset. I want to share with you a few ideas to help get you in the best mindset to prepare for being your most productive self.

Step 1: Start with inner you!

I believe one of the most energizing and refreshing feelings is to start your day with prayer and/or meditation. In my heart and mind, there is always room for both; however, I leave you to decide which practice is best. I enjoy starting with prayer to express gratitude and it is a way of being for me. I then engage in meditation to clear my mind and relax my nerves. Starting my day in this way feeds my spirit. Your spirit is the nonphysical part of a person which is the seat of emotions and character; the soul. Using the time first thing before you step out of bed for you is something you will thank me for later (if you’re not doing this already!).

Step 2: Mentally and then physically set your intention for your day!

Think through or earmark the biggest things you need to accomplish and the time you need to achieve what has to be done. Start with the minimum number of things you absolutely need to achieve on that day, and add on a bonus that could put you ahead for the following day. The goal is to be deliberate about planning for what you must do both personally and professionally while also leaving room for a few bonus tasks. What you allow by practicing this principle is you begin to underpromise and over deliver. This puts you in a mindset and physical position to begin to overachieve.

Step 3: Actively work towards and maintain a positive mindset

Now what this does not mean is that your day will go perfectly and you will have no challenges. This means you work towards maintaining a positive spirit and recognize that life is so much bigger than whatever you are experiencing. Of course like all things, there are some exceptions that apply but for the most part - think positive. Positive thinking yields more positive response from the universe around you.
